Berkeley Art Tour - Diane Abt’s studio

Thursday, April 3

10:30 am - 2:30 pm

Open Your Eyes to the Female Perspective

BOOK THIS ART TOUR

Take a deep dive into the unique perspective of women artists of today with special access to two first-hand visits.

Our first stop is at artist Diane Abt’s studio, whose work was just shown at the prestigious Crocker Kingsley exhibition, where we’ll learn about the influences of her artwork: living in Japan, calligraphy and her drawing and monotype techniques on paper.

Next, after lunch locally, we will view the outstanding exhibition of “Making Their Mark,” the Shah Garg Collection of contemporary women artists of note, which includes Lorna Simpson, Joan Semmell, Joan Mitchell, Faith Ringgold and nearly 70 other notable women artists. The art includes work in multiple media and is divided into six thematic categories of content. We’ll be guided through the exhibit by a Ph.D-candidate.

Experience for yourself art that presents a wide commentary of contemporary life from a female perspective, often using materials that are associated with art by women. It’s the “must-see” exhibition at the Berkeley Art Museum!

Please Register and Pay using the button below. We will meet at Diane Abt’s studio at 10:30 am. Address will be given upon payment.

We’ll have a no-host lunch and then go on to the Berkeley Art Museum to view a show and listen to a curator on a guided tour of the Shah Garg collection.
