Did you know that Berkeley is filled with a creative and inclusive spirit that oozes from its core? Join us on an Art Tour in Berkeley for a stimulating visit to the shared art studio of Julie Cohn and Sara Frucht to see innovation at its source. We will also take a guided tour through the wonderful quilt exhibit at the Berkeley Art Museum (BAMPFA).

The Plan:

We will meet at the Berkeley art studio of two diverse artists: Julie Cohn, an evocative watercolor artist of diverse subjects, and Sara Frucht, who innovated an unique creative process by writing code, animating images and printing them on metal.

Following a no-host lunch at a wonderful nearby cafe, Tarocco, we will go to the Berkeley Art Museum (BAMPFA) to see several shows and be toured through the Quilt exhibit by a Berkeley grad student.

At BAMPFA, Routed West: Twentieth-Century African American Quilts in California traces the flow and flourishing of quilts in the context of the Second Great Migration through approximately one hundred quilts representing the work of eighty individuals. This unique exhibit is is the first group show drawn from a transformative bequest of African American quilts that the museum received in 2019.

Let the adventure happen!~~~
