It will dig deeply into artwork by artists who evoke nature to make exquisite and imaginative artworks.
BOOK THIS ART TOUR
Our tour will take us to San Francisco for a rare visit to the studio of Nicole Fein. Fein’s masterful drawings on paper and her paper sculpture respond to deep exploration of the elements of nature.
Then we’ll travel to Hayes Valley for lunch and a visit to the TINT Gallery. Through a tour with the gallery owner, Arminee Chabazian and Minami Oya’s exquisite beauty combined with their skilled craftsmanship, precision and innovation will be on view for us to enjoy.
More on the artists:
Nicole’s work was one of five artists selected to show at MarinMOCA’s “The Shape of Thought” this summer. In addition, she shows regularly through represention by major New York and San Francisco galleries. This will be a real treat to get a personal visit to her creative home.
Arminee Chahbazian has her MFA from Yale and has shown her very personal, meditative work in many shows from France to the west coast. Her layered compositions are composed of various drawing techniques that bring together elements from different environments and contexts, creating imagined landscapes built from familiar forms.
Minami Oya uses reflection as both material and metaphor, exploring the exchange that occurs when opposing forces meet. Born in Japan, she studied art in the Bay Area focusing on spatial studies and has shown her work worldwide. In 2008 she discovered and mastered glass-making which has influenced her considerably.
Join Us on an Art Tour to delve into the art and lives of these wonderful creators.
~~~~~ Let the adventure happen!
Past Art Tours 〰️
Looking at art inspires your own creativity and imagination. It enhances everyone’s life, no matter what you’re into. The images and descriptions below show some of the past Art Tours.
ART in THE CITY
Minnesota Street Project was hailed as a savings grace to our art community in San Francisco when it was conceived and opened over ten years ago. Now, it has evolved into an established community of galleries in a transformed San Francisco neighborhood, the Dogpatch.
We will visit the galleries and a few of the artists’ studios who have made their new homes the ongoing source of creative expression.
In addition, as I will have just returned from a trip to Chicago, I will be pleased to share some image of my visit to the Obama Presidential Center that features over two dozen art commissions.
SONOMA’s AWESOME STYLE
Our day in Sonoma will be a treat for all! It includes a visit to the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art and then a rare opportunity to visit the home and studio of an artist who is living his dream life in a home of his own making… although the way it came about is a story unto itself.
WOMEN ARTISTS WHO STARTED THE CONVERSATION
We’re in luck with this scheduling of two exciting shows at the Berkeley Art Museum! The Cooper Wasserman Collection of art by female artists since the sixties has been donated to the museum and a large selection of greats is on view.
Also, Maren Hassinger’s retrospective just opened and we will see sculpture by this acclaimed artist who uses materials to mimic nature and articulates the relationship between nature and humanity. Maren is also a dancer and you can see the movement inherent in her works.
Creative Hubs in nearby Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa is known to tourists as the center of the art of winemaking. The wine industry’s focus on fine craftsmanship is also the defining aesthetic for fine art and craft. In our tour we will see how the woodworkers and fine artists of the region push their craft to the fullest extent possible and add their own unique innovative stamp.
Let’s Go, San Francisco!!!
“San Francisco’s Downtown is coming back!’ proclaims Mayor Daniel Lurie. Let’s visit for ourselves to see what’s happening downtown!
Join Us on an Art Tour to see the vitality that is building… starting with a new 3-story gallery space with street access that is filled with contemporary paintings by living artists. We’ll have lunch at a cafe, visit several other galleries and view the new storefronts that are bringing the Union Square area back to life!
Newest SF Mission Gallery Revisits the Best that SF is Known For
First we will visit a brand new gallery that is showing an important selection of paintings and drawings by Elmer Bischoff. With artworks that range from 1947 to 1982, this tyoe of museum-quality exhibit is rarely shown in galleries. Bischoff’s work includes examples of figurative works from the fifties that he created as a peer of Richard Diebenkorn and David Park. It also includes the abstract paintings of his later years.
In assoication with this gallery, we will also visit the studio of Bay Area sculptor, Jerry Barrish. Barrish has been making art out of found plastics for decades. Recently he has been casting select pieces in bronze. We will receive rare access to his studio space and learn about his vision and his process.
Following a no-host lunch at a nearby cafe, we will visit a local storefront City Art collective of San Francisco artists.
